The SLAP Try a Tri training schedule is being finalized by Coach Liesl and Coach Lea and will be delivered via the Training Peaks app to all registered participants of the program. There will be multiple group training sessions each week to fit your schedule. 

 ***You are not required to attend all sessions...some training will be completed on your own !***

A Sprint Triathlon is 400 meters of swimming the open water, followed by 11 miles of road cycling, and finishes with a 5k run.

Join the SLAP Triathlon Team & USA Triathlon Certified Coach Liesl or Coach Lea Politowicz for 8-10 weeks of group training, mentoring, coaching, and fitness.

The SLAP Try a Tri program ends with participation in one of two local sprint-distance triathlon events.

The SLAP Try a Tri program is NOT just for first time Triathletes! We are providing coaching and support for 1st-timers to 5th-timers who want to improve their overall triathlon experience. If you want to do more than just 'survive' a triathlon, then this is the program is for you!

In the SLAP Try a Tri program you will learn:

  • How to run off/after the bike leg
  • What is a "transition" and how to transition smoothly
  • How to swim straight in the open water
  • How to set up your transition
  • What are the rules of the bike leg
  • What gear you need and what you can leave at home
  • What to wear during a triathlon
  • How to change a flat bike tire and basic maintenance
  • How to clip into my new bike pedals
  • The tricks to getting a wet suit on and off
  • And so much more!!

The 8-week SLAP Try a Tri program is for YOU!  You may already be active as a runner, cyclist, boxer, dancer, parent, or even have a few triathlons under your belt...but there is so much more to the sport.  Join us as we teach the skills needed for training and racing. The SLAP group of athletes and coaches will support you along thee way to your 1st, 2nd, or even 5th triathlon!

The SLAP Try a Tri program is designed with the beginner in mind.  We will help you move smoothly from swim, to bike, and along the run to the finish line!  The program includes access to over 10 coached weekly workouts, education seminars, cool swag, free gear, race discounts, and membership to the SLAP Tri Team for the rest of 2018!
